INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHARGING SEIKO & PULSAR KINETIC WATCHES

WITH A NEW SEIKO KINETIC RECHARGABLE BATTERY

• We fully charge your watch here before shipping it to you. You should not need the instructions below.

   

  If you have not had your kinetic repaired by us and are having problems, the directions below will help you determine if your kinetic watch needs to be repaired.

   

• To charge a kinetic watch fully swing it side to side:

   

  Swing your kinetic watch side to side about 2 times per second. Swinging in arcs of about 8 inches. There is no benefit to swinging hard or swinging faster.

   

  Be sure the second hand is moving at 1 second intervals. If the second hand is moving in 2 second intervals the power reserve is very low and the indicator does not function.

   

• Wait for the second hand to reach the 12 o'clock position before pressing the indicator button.

   

  When you push the power reserve button, the power reserve indicator will advance to the 5, 10 or 20 minute position.

   

  On the first push of the button if you get a reading of 10 or 20 the reading is probably incorrect. A second push of the button is needed to show the correct power reserve.

   

• If the power indicator shows 20 - 30 seconds the watch is now ready for wear. It is best to start wearing it when you start your day.

   

  Before putting your kinetic watch away for the night and after you have worn it for 10+ hours be sure to check the power reserve.

   

  If the indicator is no higher than the 5 second position, this indicates your kinetic watch is in need of repair.

   

  If the indicator will not go past the 5 or 10 second position the capacitor/battery is not getting the charge, not accepting the charge or being drained too quickly.

   

  Your kinetic watch will need to be sent in to us for the proper repair.

   

THE POWER INDICATOR:

The diagram below applies to kinetic watches with the original capacitors in them.

To use the diagram below the kinetic watch needs to be worn for at least 10 hours or more for about 10 days. This allows the kinetic watch to store energy in the capacitor/battery. If you do not wear the kinetic watch for 10+ hours per day for 10 consecutive days the diagram below will not apply.

If you wear your kinetic watch as described the indicator should be around the 10 second position or higher. After normal wearing of the kinetic watch during the day for 20+ days the indicator should show about the 20 second mark, as shown in Fig. 4.

On kinetic watches with a capacitor to get the reserve indicator to show the 30 second mark (Fig 5) requires a very active person. If the indicator consistently shows around the 20 second mark (Fig. 4) it is normal.

Kinetic watches with a Litium Ion Battery, getting the reserve indicator to show 30 seconds mark (Fig 5) cannot be done by wearing the watch. Only by using a Seiko Kinetic energy supplier as shown below can a 30 second charge be achieved. If the indicator consistently shows around the 20 second mark (Fig. 4) it is normal and fully charged.

Included in the basic kinetic watch service:

• Visual Inspection

  Of all parts of the watch including the case, case back, pusher, o-rings and seals, crown, movement, gear train and crystal.

   

• Electrical testing

  Of the coils and cirtcuit. Including circuit consumption, electrical charging rate and the new battery to be installed.

   

• Kinetic Capacitor/Battery Replacement

  Kinetic capacitor/battery replacement with the new Seiko Lithium Ion Rechargeable Battery.

  (This includes the new insulator, bridge and Seiko kinetic LI battery).

   

• Clean Case.

  When a watch is worn dirt builds up next to the caseback. Then as it is opened for service this dirt moves into the watch. If this is not cleaned there is no way to reseal your watch to factory specs.

   

  We take pride in our work and want the best for you.

   

  So because we are the best we don't just wipe the gasket channel. Just wiping the channel is rediculous. It can't be properly cleaned by just wiping it. We actually clean your whole watch case ultrasonically. It is the right way to service your watch. Don't settle for some bozo that just wipes it clean.

   

  We clean and we guarantee water resistance if your watch is capable of water resistance.

   

  Yes, if any dirt is left, the gasket will not seal and water will get inside. To service your watch properly the crown and stem need to be removed along with the movement. So just wiping the gasket channel for the case back gasket does not take care of the other areas that are still dirty. That dirt will drop in the gasket channel which will prevent the gaskets from sealing.

   

• New Case Back Gasket.

  This is important so your watch will be sealed again. Without this your watch could leak. When the case back is unscrewed it stretches the gasket and deforms it. This makes it impossible to reuse and impossible to for the old gasket to reseal your kinetic watch.

   

  Cases without case backs will have a bezel gasket. These gaskets can cost slightly extra.

   

• Seal the Stem and Crown.

  The importance of this is so your watch will be sealed again. Without this your watch could leak. Sealing is not replacement of the o-rings. This refers to a special lube that seals and lubricates the o-rings so they 1) slide properly in the tubes and 2) fill any gaps that may be present while the o-rings are in motion 3) help keep the o-rings from drying out.

   

• Seal Pusher

  This is important in order to seal your watch again. Your watch could leak without this. Sealing is not replacement of the o-rings. This refers to a special lube that seals and lubricates the o-rings so they 1) slide properly in the tubes and 2) fill any gaps that may be present while the o-ring is in motion 3) help keep the o-rings from drying out.

   

• Pressure Test

  This is so both YWI and you can be confident your watch is sealed properly to original factory specs.

   

• Clean metal band.

   

• New stainless steel spring bars (if needed).

   

• Fully Charge and 21 Point Test.

Be sure to insure your Kinetic Watch for replacement value or what you paid for it when you bought it. Because wear and tear changes the value of a watch there is no way we can come up with a value on your watch for you, for shipping purposes.

This is vital. We cannot contact you or return your kinetic watch without this.

Please do not send any Watch Boxes with your kinetic watch.

Simply wrap your kinetic watch in bubble wrap or other type of protective packaging and use a sturdy box.

Our time is as valuable as yours. We need to be paid for it just like you do. On Kinetic Watches we have a small charge of $30 for the estimate (this is only charged if you decide you don't want your kinetic watch repaired after we have spent our time to inspect and work up the estimate for your kinetic watch).

This covers our time to work up the estimate on your kinetic watch and return priority mail shipping if you do not have the repair done. This fee is waived if the repair is done.

You do NOT need to send any money with your kinetic watch.

NOTICE: All kinetic watches not picked up or paid for within 30 days of repair will be deemed abandoned and forfeited.

** 3-4 day turn around is for certain kinetic watch models as long as we have the parts on hand and the time frame is measured from the time the ok is given on the estimate to when your watch is ready to be shipped back to you. It does NOT include the time from when you shipped your watch! It does NOT include return shipping times. It does NOT include watches requiring us to order parts like crowns or crystals and so on.
