Quartz Watches:
If your watch has the word "Quartz" on the dial, or it does not need winding it is probably a battery powered quartz watch.
-
If your watch is not working and you have not replaced the battery in over a year and you have not gotten it wet it probably has a dead battery.
-
Because quartz watches have very little power in them compared to mechanical watches when they get the smallest amount of dirt in the movement they will stop running.
We see this all the time when someone has taken their watch to a 'mart' store or a battery place in the mall to save a couple of dollars on a battery. These stores hire people off the street that have no training and no idea what they are doing.
What ends up happening is the person has gotten a little dirt or some fiber from their clothing or such in the watch.
This dirt or fiber stops the watch and the sales person doesn't know what to say or do.
-
Another problem with these stores is because of their hiring practices (mentioned above) their employees damage many watches. We witnessed an employee in a big name department store using a carpenters hammer to pound on a ladies watch trying to close the case back! This results in a destroyed watch. How much would you pay to have your watch damaged? Why not send it in to us and have it done right the first time.
If you are a victim of this we can help. Send your watch to us for repair. Then take your invoice to the store that damaged your watch in the first place and have them reimburse you.
-
When your quartz watch is new, you may get many years from a battery. As the watch ages and the oils dry out and get gummy and the movement gets dirty you'll get fewer and fewer years from each battery.
Sometimes we can 'unblock' a stuck gear train with our cyclonic machine which spins the gear train quickly. If that doesn't work, the movement will need to be cleaned and oiled or replaced.

-
NO estimates of any kind will be given unless We have the opportunity to examine the watch.
The reasons for this are:
#1 There is no way to know exactly what problem is causing the symptoms you are having. Most symptoms have several possible causes.
#2 Some things like a broken crystal can require addtional work like a new gasket and maybe bezel if the bezel has been damaged or new hands if they have been damaged due to the crystal breaking.
#3 Recently a law was passed by the US government that states all companies giving estimates for work have to be within a certain percentage of the final invoice. There are exclusions to this rule but basically there is no way to give an estimate that meets he new law without being able to inspect and determine what the exact cause of the problem is.
*10% off complete service sale is for a limited time with restrictions on some models. Estimate and shipping costs are not discounted.
